TMC Rajya Sabha MP Santanu Sen suspended for remainder of Monsoon session


New Delhi: TMC Rajya Sabha MP Santanu Sen has been suspended for the rest of the Monsoon Session, Chairman Venkaiah Naidu took the decision a day after he snatched the papers from Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and tore them during a heated debate over the Pegasus row. 

Earlier on Friday, V Muralidharan moved a suspension motion against TMC MP following this, Rajya Sabha Chairman approved the motion and announced that Sen stands suspended. The House Chairman said, “Santanu Sen, please withdraw from the House. Allow the House to function.”

The announcement was followed by an uproar leading to adjournment till 12 pm.

Sen had snatched a paper from the hands of IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw while he was speaking on the `Pegasus Project` report in Rajya Sabha during session yesterday.

There was an exchange of words between BJP and TMC MPs, heated words were exchanged between Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Sen. Marshals intervened to bring the situation under control.
